Quest Products Feed Your Cravings Without All the Net Carbs
At Quest we believe the foods you crave should work for you, not against you. That’s why every Quest Product has 9 g or less of net carbs. What does that mean? Net Carbs represent the total carbohydrate content of the food minus the fiber content and sugar alcohols* (if in the product). The calculation looks like this:
*Stevia and sucralose used in some products in trace amounts and not part of the calculation to determine net carbs.
Why Sugar and Sweeteners Matter When Counting Net Carbs
The amount of sugar in your food matters when calculating net carbs. Controlling the things that the human body turns into sugar is the single biggest factor in eating right. When there is too much sugar in the bloodstream, your body stores it as fat. “Glycemic” means “relating to the sugar or glucose in the blood.” The glycemic load simply estimates how much food will raise a person’s blood glucose level after eating it. The greater the glycemic impact of a food, the greater and more rapid its impact is on your blood sugar level—and that may cause your body to produce greater levels of insulin to return your blood sugar to a normal level. That’s why foods from Quest use the sweeteners and sugar substitutes below:
A zero-calorie sweetener derived from the plant Stevia rebaudiana. Does not metabolize in the body and does not spike blood sugar.
A zero-calorie sugar alcohol that occurs in nature in small amounts and is made through fermentation. Does not metabolize in the body and does not spike blood sugar
A low-calorie sweetener with 1/10th the calories of table sugar. Used in Quest Hero Bars and occurs naturally in certain foods like figs and raisins.
A zero-calorie sweetener and sugar substitute. Up to 600 times the sweetness of table sugar, so used in very low quantities in Quest products.
Fiber and Net Carbs
Not all fiber is created equal. We use FDA-recognized fiber sources in all our products
Carbs in the Body
Your body’s preferred method of generating energy is from carbohydrates. When there are too many carbohydrates in the diet, your body stores them for future use as fat or glycogen. This is one contributing factor for fat buildup.
